External School Credits

Did you know that when you referee you can earn high school credits? Under the Ministry of Education you can be a part of the External Credit Program. Here are the requirements:

Credits 2

Certification Successfully passed the Small Sided Games Referee Clinic

Experience Demonstrate a minimum of 25 hours of practical officiating experience.

Referee / Official / Athlete 11

Credits 4

Certification Successfully passed the Entry-Level Games Referee Clinic

Experience Demonstrate a minimum of 50 additional hours of practical officiating experience from Official 10 (total 75).

Referee / Official / Athlete 12

Credits 4

Certification Successfully passed the Entry-Level Referee Clinic

Experience Demonstrate a minimum of 50 additional hours of practical officiating experience from Official 11 (total 125).

Additionally, you must request a letter from the Referee Manager confirming your qualification; and submit it to the BC Soccer Office. You must keep track of your games with a log sheet in order to prove to the Association that you have completed your hours. If you have been refereeing for a long time and have not done this, it may be possible to retrieve this information from historical records.
