Concussion Awareness Night

In partnership with Trailside Physiotherapy, an important night for every PoCo FC family to better understand concussions and how we protect our children.

Date & Location

February 23, 2026

PoCo Community Centre - Mabbett Room, 2150 Wilson Ave, Port Coquitlam

Program Overview

We are pleased to be partnering with Trailside Physiotherapy to host a Concussion Awareness and Education Night for our players, parents, coaches, and team officials.

Concussions can happen in sport, but they can also occur during school, playground activity, or everyday life. Knowing what to look for and understanding when to act helps us better support our children’s health, learning, and overall well-being.

This session supports our commitment to Safe Sport and to creating a children-first environment where player safety always comes before the game.

Our goal is simple. An informed community creates a safer environment for every child.

Who Should Attend

This session is open to all ages and all PoCo FC families:

  • Players

  • Parents and caregivers

  • Coaches and team officials

Whether your child has experienced a concussion before or not, this is valuable information for every family in our club.

What You’ll Learn

Trailside Physiotherapy will cover:

  • What a concussion is and how it can affect children and youth

  • Common signs and symptoms that may appear at home, at school, or during sport

  • Why baseline testing can be helpful for young athletes

  • Safe and age-appropriate return-to-play guidelines

  • How parents, coaches, and players can work together to support recovery

We will also reinforce the importance of removing a player from activity when a concussion is suspected. When in doubt, we sit them out. There is no game or training session that is more important than a child’s health.

Why This Matters

Player safety is a shared responsibility. When parents, players, and coaches understand concussion management, we create a stronger, safer environment for everyone.

Education gives families confidence. It gives players a voice. And it helps us support children properly if something happens.
