Frequently asked questions
Every Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Team Manager completes the club registration steps.
A valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) must be on file.
Youth teams should have at least one team official of the same gender as the players.
Send a simple welcome message early to introduce yourself.
Keep updates clear and consistent (training, games, changes).
Use TeamSnap so families receive the same message at the same time.
Fields typically become available for training during the last week or two of August. Coaches are welcome to start training in August if they’d like, but it’s completely optional. The expectation is that training is up and running by the first week of school.
Timing matters
Sessions end at the 55-minute mark (for example, 6:00–6:55).
This gives players time to gather belongings and helps equipment get cleared so the next group can enter the field on the hour.
Stay in your designated area
Please keep players within your training area.
Do not send players for laps around the field. This is disruptive and can interfere with other teams’ sessions.
Before your field time
Teams must remain outside the fenced area until their designated time. Please wait outside the fence and be ready to enter the field at your scheduled start time.
Coaches have access to weekly session plans in the shared Coach Google Drive.
These plans support consistent, age-appropriate training aligned with our club approach.
If you’re unsure how to run a session or adjust an activity for your group, reach out to your Technical Lead.
Schedule
Games generally begin after the first week back at school in September
Check the schedule weekly for updates.
The home team confirms game time and location with the opponent.
Weather and field status
Coaches do not cancel games due to rain. If the field is open, the referee determines playability.
Please do not change field locations on game day, even if another field looks empty.
Setup
Fields are generally set up (goals/flags). Report any issues to the club contact provided.
If the referee does not show up, call our Field Scheduler: 236-662-5854.
If a home match is cancelled due to an opponent forfeit, notify the club right away so referee arrangements can be adjusted.
U8–U10 play format
Small-sided format with goalkeepers.
Pass-ins are used for U8–U10 (instead of throw-ins).
Follow the age-group guidelines for restarts and spacing.
North Fraser Youth Soccer Association (Schedules and rules can be found here)
Spectators and benches
Spectators should watch from the opposite side of the field from the team benches whenever possible.
Bench areas are for players and team staff only.
Important sideline courtesy (linesperson positioning)
The linesperson on the same side as the teams and coaches should stay in their own half while flagging.
Please do not cross into the opposing team’s half. This isn’t a formal rule, but it’s common courtesy and helps prevent unnecessary conflict.
There are no offsides at these age groups.
