PoCo FC is proud to announce the appointment of their new President, Tyler Cairns!

Tyler took over this role as of April 1, 2026.

Our new president has a long history with our community and bleeds PoCo Soccer!

Living in PoCo since he was 3 years old, he played his entire youth soccer career at PoCo FC, where he played at all levels throughout his youth career. His adult soccer career has only recently come to a pause, as his daughters have taken the front seat for sports in the house now.

Tyler has been giving back as a volunteer to the club for the past decade, as he has coached each of his 4 daughters that have played soccer for the club, 3 of them are still playing and he is still coaching one of them.

He has been on the board for the last year and has pioneered a few projects that you may have seen that were new to the club this past season. Tyler spearheaded the “Boot Swap” initiative that we had set up during photo day and the jamboree. He says he can’t take full credit for the idea, it was actually John Murphy, a former coach at the club, that brought the idea to him to bring to completion. For the adults, he is the one responsible for collaboration with Patina Brewing’s PoCo Soccer beer, where the club is making $1 per can that they sell.

What he didn’t even know, until he told his parents about the announcement, Tyler isn’t the first Cairns to be in the role for the club! He is actually following in his father's footsteps, as David Cairns has filled both the clubs Vice-President and President roles in the past for the club.

Tyler’s professional life also intersects with the community, as he works for a company that sells software that automates, and protects, the paper forms that capture sensitive data about our children, such as medical info, allergies, emergency contacts and waiver information for those participating in sports, municipal, non-profit and private clubs that offer activities and camps.

“I am extremely honoured and humbled to be in this position with the club I grew up in. I can’t wait to expand the number of amazing people I interact and work with at the club and I am excited to be part of the group that is going to build off the great work of those before me, and take our players and this club, to a new level of growth and success in our community!”
